Mirrie Hill
Composer
Mirrie Hill responded to dissonance in music from the age of 3, and would run from the room when her aunt played Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words saying they go wrong in the middle. She married Alfred Hill, her former teacher, in 1921. She composed in many genres, her favourite being orchestral music. Several works took their inspiration from Aboriginal themes and rhythms including Little Babe of Arnhem Land.
