Amir Farid and Zoe Knighton
After the successful delivery of their CD of Mendelssohn’s complete music for cello and piano, Amir and Zoe have returned to record a CD of Argentinean music for cello and piano. The centrepiece is Piazzolla’s spectacular 12-minute Le Grand Tango.
The other compositions demonstrate that tango is never far from the thoughts of Argentinean composers, from Tengo un tango, a piece by the Juan María Solare who now lives in Germany, to an exciting three-movement sonata by Constantino Gaito (1878-1945) written during the First World War. The CD is called “Argentine Cello” and is to be released in mid-May.
