Award-winning artists
The inaugural ART Music Awards were held on 3 May 2011 in Sydney. Michael Kieran Harvey won the Tasmanian State Award for Instrumental Work of the Year for his homage to the late and legendary composer Frank Zappa, “48 Fugues for Frank”. Another Move artist Genevieve Lacey won the Victorian State Award for a work performed at last year’s Melbourne and Adelaide festivals.
Previously known as the Classical Music Awards, the ART Music Awards are presented by APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and the Australian Music Centre. The awards cover nine categories as well as seven State Awards spanning performance, composition, outstanding contributions to Australian music.
Michael’s “48 Fugues for Frank” premiered in 2010 and was released recently on Move. It is a labor of love for Zappaphiles and anyone else with an interest in advanced music, innovative poetry and artistic vision. Each of the ten pieces uses four or five ideas inspired by, reacting to, or developing some of Zappa's signature techniques.
Genevieve Lacey has two earlier CD releases on Move as well as an apperance on a double CD set of music by Brenton Broadstock.

Michael Kieran Harvey is one of the foremost interpreters of contemporary piano music of his generation. A champion of Australian music and himself a composer, he regularly commissions new Australian music and has performed with Australia's leading contemporary music ensembles and orchestras.

Recent ARIA winner and one of Australia's outstanding young recorder players, Genevieve Lacey is Artistic Director of the Melbourne Autumn Music Festival.
