The 2014 ART Music Awards come to Melbourne.

The Art Music Awards, presented by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre, celebrates the works and achievements of the art music community. It consists of eleven national awards and various state Awards across categories covering composition, performance, and outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations in Australian music, music education and regional music.

Some of the finalists this year, include: Mary Finsterer (Work of the Year: Instrumental & Orchestral, and Performance of the Year of Finsterer's work by Kees Boersma, SSO & Jessica Cottis), Brett Dean (Work of the year: Orchestral, and Performance of the Year of Dean's work by MSO/Simone Young), Andrew Ford (Work of the Year: Instrumental & Vocal), Matthew Hindson (Work of the year: Instrumental, and Performance of the Year of Hindson's work by the Elias String Quartet), and Alister Spence (Work of the year: Jazz, and Award in Excellence in Jazz). And some of the performers and presenters include: Nigel Westlake & Lior (Work of the Year: Orchestral), renowned Australian guitarist Neil Kelly will perform with long-time collaborator Michael Hewes in an exciting experimental duet, fusing electronics and a prepared player piano. Jazz pianist Paul Grabowsky and singer Gian Slater also team up. The dynamic Speak Percussion will take to the stage with a piece by London-based Australian composer Matthew Shlomowitz. Concert pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska is set to move the audience with a tribute to Peter Sculthorpe.
