Annabelle Badcock

Annabelle Badcock commenced playing the oboe at the age of 8 following in the footsteps of her older sister Caroline. Born in Tasmania, she first studied with
Joseph Ortuso in Hobart.

Annabelle Badcock commenced playing the oboe at the age of 8 following in the footsteps of her older sister Caroline. Born in Tasmania, she first studied with Joseph Ortuso in Hobart. She obtained her Bachelor of Music (Perf.) degree at Monash University School of Music-Conservatorium in 2004 where she studied with Anne Gilby. During this period, she was selected to perform chamber music on a tour of Asia, and appeared as soloist with the Conservatorium Orchestra. Annabelle is presently continuing her studies on scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Diana Doherty where she is soon set to complete her Master of Music degree. Annabelle enjoys freelance orchestral appearances, having performed with the Sydney Sinfonia and the Canberra and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.

The two sonatas on this disc started life as traditional sonatas with piano accompaniment. The Oboe Sonata was written for a teaching colleague, Caroline O'Donnell and is a first effort in writing a sonata.
