Sasha Stella
Sasha Stella is a pianist and composer who recasts the classical piano repertoire through quotation and digital studio technique. The music is built from fragments, then reshaped in the studio.
A Tissue of Quotations (MCD 439) unfolds in eight parts. Each part takes its material from one composer’s piano writing, sometimes from only a few fragments of phrases.
Those fragments are treated as samples — cut, looped, pitch-shifted and faded — so that the original emotion is heard inside a new, minimal frame.
