Duo Blockstix debut album launch and concerts
To celebrate the release of its debut album, Duo Blockstix presents the premiere performance of seven Australian compositions for recorder and percussion. Duo Blockstix is a unique and vibrant Australian ensemble featuring recorder player Alicia Crossley and percussionist Joshua Hill.
For its debut recording the duo engaged a range of Australian composers to create virtuosic works that were influenced by the ensemble’s distinct instrumentation, resulting in an eclectic collection of pieces ranging from dramatic ritualistic compositions to poetry inspired wordscores.
To celebrate the release of its self-titled debut album, Duo Blockstix will premiere the new works by Daniel Rojas, Paul Cutlan, Julian Day, Mark Oliveiro, Tim Hansen, Damian Barbeler and Peter McNamara with concerts in Canberra and Sydney in June 2017.
