Abdullah Ibrahim
Abdullah Ibrahim (1934–2026) was a South African pianist and composer. A leading figure in Cape jazz, his music drew on traditional African song, gospel and modern jazz.
He is especially known for Mannenberg, which became an unofficial anthem of the anti-apartheid movement, and for a body of work that helped define the Cape jazz tradition. His composition Maraba Blue appears on Our Favourite Things (MD 3401).
