Agustín Barrios Mangoré
Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885–1944) was a Paraguayan virtuoso classical guitarist and composer, regarded as one of the greatest performers and most prolific writers for the instrument.
His music is largely late-Romantic in character, often shaped by South American and Central American folk traditions, and much of it is virtuosic. Outstanding works include the Bach-inspired La catedral, Una limosna por el amor de Dios, Julia Florida, Danza Paraguaya, and Un sueño en la floresta. More than three hundred compositions and arrangements survive, and his pieces remain central to the concert guitar repertoire.
