Chris Caldwell

Chris is well known in the UK as a freelance multi-instrumentalist and member of the celebrated Delta Saxophone Quartet, now in its fifth decade.

As an experienced master multi-instrumentalist, baritone saxophone specialist, he has been a member of the Steve Martland Band, Mike Westbrook Orchestra, Michael Nyman Band (for Andy Findon) and Dame Shirley Bassey Orchestra. He has performed around the world, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Taipei, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Cairo, Pyongyang. In addition, Chris works extensively in London’s West End and at the National Theatre, touring shows such as the RSC and RPCO (Star Wars Tour), and as a member of the Hugh Jackman Orchestra (European Tour).

His experience as classical saxophonist is most notable, having worked with LSO, RPO, CBSO, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House and BBCSO. Chris has performed at the BBC Proms, Berliner Philharmonie under the baton of composer John Adams, the Mozarteum Salzburg with Sir Simon Rattle and the Teatro La Fenice with the Michael Nyman Band.

Chris is part of the duo Music on the Edge with Susie Hodder-Williams. Together they have recorded nine albums which has enabled their music to be regularly broadcast internationally and appreciated widely by critics and audiences alike.
