David Barmby

Australian countertenor David Barmby is heard on recordings of Mozart’s bawdy canons and songs and of Australian choral works that speak to nature and the environment.

With The Song Company he takes the countertenor line on Mozart Unexpurgated (TP009), the 1991 Sydney Opera House programme of scatological canons, household trios and related pieces. He returns on The Green CD (TP064), the 1993 studio set of Australian choral works on nature and environmental damage, including Wesley-Smith’s Who Killed Cock Robin?. He also supplied liner notes for a Beethoven piano recital.

A Beethoven Recital

Recorded in 1976, Ronald Farren-Price’s Beethoven recital mixes rarely heard piano pieces with works long loved by students, from the Ten Variations on Salieri’s La stessa, la stessissima to Für Elise.
