Dean Sky-Lucas
Dean Sky-Lucas is a countertenor and pianist whose Move recordings span a contemporary Australian song cycle and a wide-ranging tuba recital.
As countertenor he sings on Becoming (MCD 629), Johanna Selleck’s hour-long setting of haiku and renga for three voices, string quartet and shakuhachi, structured through the seasons with an instrumental interlude and finale. The vocal writing gives him dramatic solos and duets, especially in the passionate summer movement.
As pianist he appears on Tuba Magnifique (MD 3236), partnering Ian King in Spanish dances, Bach cello-suite movements, Fauré, Kreisler, spirituals and virtuoso showpieces.
