Hal David
Hal David (1921–2012) was an American lyricist whose words became enduring standards of popular song. His work reached the hit parade, film and the stage across the 1960s and early 1970s.
Among the best-known titles are Alfie, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head, Walk On By, I Say a Little Prayer, What the World Needs Now Is Love and (They Long to Be) Close to You.
Film songs include the Oscar-winning Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head and the Oscar-nominated title songs for Alfie and What’s New Pussycat?. On Broadway, the musical Promises, Promises extended the same gift for clear, singable storytelling.
