Henry Lawson
Henry Lawson was an Australian poet and short-story writer whose bush verse has long been sung and set to music. His words catch the hard beauty and melancholy of life inland.
His poems sit among Australian bush songs on The Fair Dinkum Matilda (MD 3175), among them Reedy River, The Bush Girl and Andy’s Gone with Cattle.
A later song cycle, Love, the Rover, sets seven of his poems for voice and guitar on Amatorios (TP241), with images of the bush and the force of inland life running through the songs.
