Jiří Tancibudek
Jiří Tancibudek was the oboist for whom Bohuslav Martinů wrote the Concerto for Oboe and Small Orchestra, and the player who premiered Colin Brumby's Romance for Oboe and Strings and Margaret Sutherland's Concertante for Oboe and Strings.
Jindřich Feld's Oboe Concerto was also written for him, with further scores from Ian Keith Harris, Miriam Hyde, Dorian Le Gallienne and Franz Holford. After principal posts in Prague he settled in Australia, serving as Principal Oboe of the Victorian Symphony Orchestra and as a foundation member of the University of Adelaide Wind Quintet, the first Australian chamber group to tour internationally. At the Elder Conservatorium he taught oboe and conducted the University of Adelaide Chamber Orchestra, on record directing Mozart and appearing as soloist.
