Miles Johnston

Miles Johnston is an Australian classical guitarist and a member of the guitar duo Ziggy and Miles. Their playing is known for transfixing synchronicity and a full range of colour and technique.

From a young age he took major prizes as a soloist and in the duo, including at the Guitar Foundation of America, the Adelaide Guitar Festival and Melbourne Recital Centre. Ziggy and Miles were the first guitar duo—and only the second guitarists—to win the Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, and the first Australians of any instrument accepted as Artist Diploma candidates at The Juilliard School.

Their debut recording, Sidekick (MCD 648), presents new works written for them, their own arrangement of Debussy’s Clair de Lune, and repertoire from Spain, Latin America and Australia that has shaped their musical identity. They play guitars by Australian luthier Jim Redgate.
