Russell Gilmour
Russell Gilmour is an Australian composer. His music includes Bach-inspired counterpoint for solo guitar and writing for the extended flute family.
His two-movement guitar work Fretsongs draws on Bach and unfolds through lyrical, largely diatonic counterpoint. It is heard on Fretsongs (TP178), a collection of music by composers based in Tasmania.
Blow Pipes (1997), written for flute ensemble, appears on Fantasie Australis (MD 3366), a programme of contemporary Australian works for the full flute family.
