Stephen Robinson
Stephen Robinson is an Australian oboist and Principal Oboe with Orchestra Victoria. His recording Bright Vessel gathers previously unrecorded Australian works for solo oboe and oboe d’amore.
He brings lyricism and a sense of line from the theatre together with the extended techniques of contemporary practice, and is one of very few Australian oboists to give this repertoire serious attention.
The programme ranges from edgy avant-garde and jazz-influenced writing to more traditional lyric styles, for solo oboe, oboe d’amore and chamber combinations.
He also plays with Melbourne Windpower in late-eighteenth-century wind-ensemble music and period Harmonie arrangements of favourite operatic scenes, including A Night at the Opera (MD 3110).

Melbourne Windpower brings the late 18th century tradition of wind ensemble music to the present day. The members of Melbourne Windpower perform with the State Orchestra of Victoria.
A Night at the Opera
Highly acclaimed wind arrangements of favourite operatic excerpts, given as they were heard in Vienna between 1792 and 1821, when Harmonie ensembles carried the latest stage hits beyond the opera house.
