Susie Hodder-Williams
Since studying flute at the Royal Northern College of Music and reading English at the University of York, Susie works as a soloist and freelance musician with many of the UK’s leading orchestras and ballet companies. In those settings she demonstrates a natural versality in performing masterfully when playing the Concert, Alto, Bass Flutes and Piccolo.
Having recorded a number of albums with FMR records Susie tours internationally performing in the Far East, Taiwan, Ukraine, Europe, USA and Canada. As a concerto soloist she has featured many times at St Martins-in-the-Fields with the London Concertante and the Belmont Ensemble, as well as with the New London Sinfonia at Cathedrals and churches around the UK.
Her orchestral work extends to performing with the London Mozart Players, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Concert Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, English National Ballet, the Orchestra of the Swan and Irish Chamber Orchestra.
Susie teaches in the specialist music department at Wells Cathedral School, one of the UK’s premier music schools. Working with the Independent Society of Musicians, focusing on health and wellbeing, Susie engages with artists, writers and musicians, exploring the nature of creativity both in a one-to-one setting and in a series of retreats in the UK and Europe, teaching a form of active meditation.
Having appeared at a number of international Festivals, including as a representative for the British Council, she is also part of the duo Music of the Edge with Chris Caldwell.
