Vančo Čavdarski
Vančo Čavdarski (1930–2001) was a Yugoslav-born conductor whose international career included long appointments with major Australian symphony orchestras. His repertoire spanned opera, ballet and the concert platform.
From the Macedonian National Theatre and the Macedonian Philharmonic he moved into guest and resident posts abroad, including Christchurch and, in Australia, the Tasmanian and Queensland symphony orchestras through the 1970s and early 1980s.
With the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra he appears on The Sound of Rosny (MD 3015), partnering a children’s choir in songs from several countries and movements from Vaughan Williams and Don Kay, and on Larry Sitsky: Violin Concertos 1 & 3 (TP124), directing two major concertos written for Jan Sedivka.
