Ziggy Johnston
Ziggy Johnston is an Australian classical guitarist who performs as one half of the guitar duo Ziggy and Miles, known for transfixing synchronicity and a full range of colour and technique.
From a young age he took major prizes as a soloist and in duo, including at the Guitar Foundation of America, the Adelaide Guitar Festival and Melbourne Recital Centre. With Ziggy and Miles he was part of the first guitar duo—and only the second guitarists—to win the Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, and among the first Australians of any instrument accepted as Artist Diploma candidates at The Juilliard School.
Their debut recording, Sidekick (MCD 648), presents new works written for the brothers, their own arrangement of Debussy’s Clair de Lune, and repertoire from Spain, Latin America and Australia that has shaped their musical identity. He plays guitars by Australian luthier Jim Redgate.
