Adriano Banchieri
Adriano Banchieri (1568–1634) was an Italian composer, organist, music theorist and poet of the late Renaissance and early Baroque.
A Benedictine monk based in Bologna, he helped shape the madrigal comedy: unstaged but dramatic chains of madrigals that tell a story when sung in sequence. He was also a leading writer of canzonettas and published several books of organ music under the title l’Organo suonarino.
