Charles John Stanley

Charles John Stanley (1712–1786) was an English composer and organist. Almost blind from early childhood, he became one of the leading London organists of his day and left a lasting body of organ voluntaries.

Stanley’s church and concert career centred on the organ, and his voluntaries remain staple repertoire. His Trumpet Voluntary in D is included on Just Married (MD 3149), and a Voluntary in E minor appears on Historic Organs of the Barossa Valley, Volume 1 (MD 3156).

Just Married: Organ Music for a Wedding

A compilation of history's most celebrated organ music, long popular at weddings. The insert notes usefully group the tracks as processionals, recessionals and music for the signing of the register.
