Cy Coleman
Cy Coleman (1929–2004) was an American composer, songwriter and jazz pianist. His Broadway and popular songs include Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity.
A child piano prodigy who later led a jazz trio, Coleman turned to popular song and the musical theatre. His Broadway scores included Sweet Charity, On the Twentieth Century, Barnum, City of Angels and The Will Rogers Follies. Enduring standards such as Witchcraft and The Best Is Yet to Come sit beside film and television work. He received multiple Tony, Emmy and Grammy awards and was elected to the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
