Fabian Russell
Fabian Russell conducts training and youth orchestras in large-scale symphonic repertoire, notably through The Orchestra Project he founded for young Australian musicians mentored by professionals. He also works in the opera pit.
Before concentrating on the podium he was a principal tuba, including fourteen years with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and earlier posts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. He has appeared as a tuba soloist, among them in John Williams’s Tuba Concerto, and for Victorian Opera he conducted John Adams’s Nixon in China.
