Frederick Shade
Frederick Shade is an Australian flautist and piccolo player, long associated with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and a chamber musician for whom dedicated solo writing has been a natural fit.
His piccolo playing is heard on Sun Fun and other Disappointments (MCD 657), in a concerto written for him and recorded at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival with the Academy of Melbourne. He also appears on flutes in Australian chamber programmes, including Exposé (MD 3205).

This album spans nearly a quarter of a century of Peter Tahourdin’s chamber music, from 1971 to 1995. The works chart his compositional metamorphosis and draw on a wide range of influences and themes, from the structural procedures of Indian raga to texts from the Carmina Burana.
