Gisbert Watty

Gisbert Watty is a classical guitarist whose chamber work centres on contemporary music. He is a member of Trio Altrove 1.3, the flute, clarinet and guitar ensemble that commissions and records new works for this unusual combination.

The trio grew out of a flute and guitar duo that began performing in 1991 and gave its first concert as a trio in 2001, balancing classical repertoire with new commissions.

On Move he appears with the ensemble on KAPPA (MD 3313), a recording of Australian contemporary works for flute, clarinet and guitar, several with electronics or CD. He also plays classical guitar on Hard Chamber (MD 3280), a collection of chamber pieces by Thomas Reiner.

Performing as Trio Altrove 1.3

Trio Altrove 1.3 developed from the coming together of three musicians – Luciano Tristaino, Flute; Marcello Bonacchelli, Clarinet; Gisbert Watty, Guitar – with a special interest in classical and contemporary chamber music.
