Jeff Pressing
Jeff Pressing was a Melbourne composer, performer and cognitive scientist. His recorded work moves between cross-cultural jazz keyboards and large-scale electronic multicultural composition.
His principal Move recording is the multicultural symphony Zalankara (MCD 191), dedicated to refugees and displaced people. The work fuses ethnic and Western structures through electronics, live voices and environmental sound.
He also wrote for and played keyboards with the World Rhythm Band on World Rhythm Band (MCD 101), joining contemporary jazz harmony with West African and other rhythmic traditions, and contributed research to the survey disc Contemporary Australian Piano (MD 3066).
