Joseph Jordania
Joseph Jordania is an Australian–Georgian ethnomusicologist and singer whose research and performance centre on traditional Georgian vocal polyphony. Based in Melbourne, he is known for low voices and percussion with the vocal ensemble Golden Fleece.
He arrived in Australia from Georgia in 1995 and helped form Golden Fleece the following year, collecting, teaching and researching Georgian song. As producer he shaped the ensemble’s portrait of that heritage on Songs from Georgia (MCD 127). He also contributes voice, percussion and piano, and arrangements, to the Orff-influenced education resource Step Back Sally (MCD 095).
