Vincent Plush
Vincent Plush is an Australian composer, critic, teacher and musicologist. His chamber and ensemble works often draw on political history, place and song.
Born in Adelaide in 1950, he studied composition at the University of Adelaide and later taught twentieth-century music at the Sydney Conservatorium. In 1976 he founded the Seymour Group. A Harkness Fellowship took him to Yale to research American composers, and he has worked widely as a broadcaster, commentator and writer on classical music.
On Shooting Stars (TP133), his three-movement homage to the Chilean singer-poet Victor Jara, blends folk material with vivid dramatic writing and ranks among his most performed scores. The Ludlow Lullabies (ACD 110) stands among Australian works for violin and piano.
