William Hennessy

William Hennessy appears as violinist and concertmaster on chamber Mozart and on Julian Yu's refined chamber-orchestra versions of Russian piano works, including Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and movements from Tchaikovsky's The Seasons.

As concertmaster he works inside Yu's arrangements of Mussorgsky, Glière, Glinka and Tchaikovsky, scores noted for refined orchestration, contrast over grandeur, and effects built from hocket, pointillism and solo character writing. The same forces frame Jeffrey Crellin's oboe in the Coloratura Concerto and The Nightingale. As violinist he also records Mozart's String Quartet in C, KV 465, with the String Quintet in G minor, KV 516, in the drawing room of Melbourne's Government House.
