Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809–1892) was an English poet and Poet Laureate whose verse has long been set to music. His lyrics remain among the most frequently chosen texts in the English art-song and choral repertory.
Poems such as Now sleeps the crimson petal and the lullaby Sweet and Low continue to be sung in art-song and choral settings. They appear on this label in programmes of English song and a cappella singing, including I Heard You Singing (MCD 470) and Laughing (MD 3306).
