Eleanor Hull
Eleanor Hull wrote the English versification of the Old Irish prayer Rop tú mo baile, known as the hymn Be Thou My Vision. The 1912 text is sung as standard congregational hymnody on recordings of favourite hymns.
Hull was a scholar of Old Irish who co-founded the Irish Texts Society to publish early manuscripts and wrote on Celtic literature, folklore and the lives of the Celtic saints. The hymn words grow directly from that work with Irish sources.
