John Williams

John Williams's theme from Schindler's List carries a long, aching melody that sits as naturally with cello and piano as it does on the original soundtrack. In these recordings it becomes a quiet hinge between film music, Jewish song and reflective chamber jazz.

Placed among traditional Jewish melodies and intimate piano originals, the theme keeps its elegiac poise while leaving space for improvising partners. Cello carries the line with mellow gravity; clarinet and piano answer without breaking the spell. It is score music that still holds when the screen goes dark, written for deep feeling rather than display, and treated here as living chamber material.
