Ludovico Einaudi

Ludovico Einaudi writes spare, meditative piano music built on repeating patterns and clear melodies. His pieces sit between classical minimalism and a more popular, songlike directness, and they move easily from the concert platform into film and late-night listening.

Trained in traditional classical forms, he later sought a more personal language for piano, dance, multimedia and the screen. Solo albums such as Le Onde, I Giorni and Nightbook place the piano beside orchestra, electronics or instruments from other traditions, while film and television scores carry the same open, songlike lines into narrative. The writing favours gentle arpeggios, folk-tinged tunes and a steady pulse meant to be emotionally accessible rather than virtuosic. On our discs his Canzone popolare appears in chamber and improvising settings, treated as colour and atmosphere more than display.
