Tom Fryer

Tom Fryer is an acoustic guitarist and composer whose playing anchors the Christopher Young Quartet. His work ranges from delicate ensemble textures to collective improvisation.

On Brood Groove (MD 3348) his acoustic guitar is praised for sweet and maudlin inventions within an intimate, exploratory quartet sound. He is a primary guitarist and co-composer on Atmospheros (MD 3408), shaping originals and group improvisations that leave space for dramatic woodwind statements. He also appears on the commemorative Move 50 (MD 3450).

"One of the most rewarding sessions I've recorded for Jazztrack. Maybe the stars aligned that day... the musicians really listening and responding to each other. It's music that surprises and explores."
