Cezary Skubiszewski
Cezary Skubiszewski is a Polish-born Australian screen composer whose film and television scores move freely between orchestra, jazz and popular styles, and have earned him major national awards.
Born in Warsaw, he studied piano from the age of six and migrated to Australia in 1974. He has played in and composed for rock, jazz and classical groups. In 1981 he composed and performed the symphony Home at Last. In 1990 he created Soundscape – a musical journey through time and emotion – with designer Shaun Gurton.
His first feature film score was for Lilian’s Story, directed by fellow Pole Jerzy Domaradzki. He has since worked with many Australian directors, including Gregor Jordan (Two Hands), Richard Flanagan (The Sound of One Hand Clapping), Steve Jacobs (La Spagnola) and Brendan Maher (the Network 10 / Granada mini-series After the Deluge). He has also written extensively for television and advertising.
