Caerwen Martin
Caerwen Martin is an Australian cellist and composer. She founded the Silo String Quartet in 1998 and works across contemporary chamber music, jazz and film.
With Silo she has performed regularly at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Melbourne International Women in Jazz Festival since 1999, and the quartet was the resident string ensemble for the Federation Music Week International Composers Forum.
On Move she plays cello on the hour-long song cycle Becoming (MCD 629), and appears as a performer on the chamber collection Sunburnt Aftertones (MCD 441). She has also written soundtrack music for the Australian feature film Lost and Found.
Performing as Silo String Quartet
Silo String Quartet was founded by cellist and composer Caerwen Martin in 1998. Their influences include Kronos String Quartet, Contemporary Australian, Asian and American repertoire.
Origami
Music from BalletLab’s dance work Origami, premiered in Melbourne on 13 July 2006. David Chisholm’s score, partly electronic and partly for Silo Quartet, was nominated for the 2006 Green Room Awards.
