Glenn Bardwell
Glenn Bardwell is a trombonist and tenor sackbut player with Melbourne early-music ensembles, including La Compañia and the Victorian Time Machine.
On tenor sackbut he appears with La Compañia on Music of the Spanish Renaissance (MD 3225), a colourful programme of sixteenth-century Spanish works that includes material prepared for the film Elizabeth.
He also plays trombone on Victorian Time Machine (MD 3028), the ensemble’s disc of instrumental and consort pieces drawn from the Victorian College of the Arts circle.
Performing as La Compañia
La Compañia, established in 1997, is dedicated to the music of the 16th century with a primary focus on loud winds and percussion, improvisation being a key element of the group's performance.
Music of the Spanish Renaissance
La Compañia's first CD gathers seventeen Spanish Renaissance works on period instruments with soprano Vivien Hamilton, including cues heard in the film Elizabeth but omitted from its commercial soundtrack.
