Acclaimed soprano Merlyn Quaife offers a programme of delicate, colourful songs by Mozart and Schubert, set beside evocative Spanish and Argentinian folksongs by Moretti, Gerhard and Guastavino.
Two of the Mozart songs are guitar transcriptions by Jochen Schubert; two were written with mandolin in mind and are heard here on octave guitar. Schubert’s own guitar-friendly lieder sit with Moretti’s early six-string songs, Gerhard’s vivid Spanish Cantares, and Guastavino’s haunting Argentinian settings.
