the fourth volume of John Sangster's jazz interpretation of The Lord of the Rings
This is the fourth and final restored re-release of John Sangster's jazz-inspired view of Tolkien's epic tale. Originally a double LP released in the late 1970s, it will finally meet the CD age late in 2006. As well as all the music from the original LPs, we have a video shot in New Zealand of ravishing landscapes similar to those seen in the recent movie trilogy, but with John Sangster's music as the soundtrack.

— John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
“Sangster's enchantment ran deep, and it shows.”
— Chris Seeman, The Tolkien Music List
“Some of this prolific composer's most reflective writing complemented by superb solos from Don Burrows and Graeme Lyall”

John Sangster was one of the most talented of all Australian jazz musicians, a technician and creator who embraced and understood more styles of the music than any other. He was an expert drummer and vibraphone player, a soulful trumpeter and, in arranging and composing, he always took into account the personality of the exponent.
