Peter Davies set twelve poems from C. J. Dennis’s A Book for Kids for choir and orchestra. First heard with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the cycle later featured with the Sydney Symphony under Patrick Thomas at the Sydney Opera House.
The programme also takes in Don Gurr’s bossa nova The Lord’s Prayer, with Errol Buddle’s flute obbligato; Sydney Carter’s The Lord of the Dance in a Peter Davies arrangement with the TSO under Richard Mills; popular items including Day Trip to Bangor and a Swingle-styled The Entertainer; and the choir’s 1979 theme song The World is a Beautiful Place.

The Australian Rosny Children's Choir started in 1967 by music teacher Jennifer Filby, has toured extensively within Australia, performing in all the major concert venues, and appearing with the Sydney, Melbourne, South Australian and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.
Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra has an enviable reputation as one of the world's great small orchestras. With a full-time strength of 47 players, which can be augmented when the programme demands, it is known for classical polish and a lively commitment to new work.

Sydney Carter (1915–2004) was an English poet, folk singer and songwriter. He is often called a hymn-writer for Lord of the Dance, though his songs range across faith, protest, doubt and ordinary life.

Peter Davies is a composer, arranger and producer. His settings of Australian children’s verse, and his arrangements for choir and orchestra, appear on Move recordings with the Australian Rosny Children’s Choir.

Alan Dean is a composer and arranger.
Ward Swingle
Ward Swingle's arrangements give Bach's fugues and inventions a jazz vocal lift: close-harmony scat that keeps the counterpoint clear while the rhythm swings. Choirs still reach for those scores when they want that sound.
