Recorded and mixed at EMI Studios Sydney in August–September 1980, these nine pieces open Sangster’s five-volume Jazz Music Series for a lively little orchestra of leading Australian players. Remastered from the original mixed tapes and reissued by Move in 2018, the suite is full of humour, mutes, twin drum kits and doo-wup riffs.
All five volumes are available as a set at a reduced price.
In the artist’s words
Anyone lucky enough to have made music with John Sangster will likely refer to him as a creative genius. He certainly was that in my view and much more. His compositions, his humour and general attitude towards life were inspirational. This collection demonstrates all these qualities to be sure. It is a collectors item and one which will give great listening pleasure for a very long time.
