Brian Brown's musical career started by replicating America's ferociously driving hard bop jazz style of the 1950s in mild-mannered Australia. He moved on in an attempt to make modern jazz that escaped the thrall of the American model.
There is amazing variety on this CD - lyrical romanticism, nervous discovery, delight, pathos, fast reflex responses and close interaction with different fellow musicians.

Composers

Barry Buckley
Barry was the original bass player in the Ted Vining Trio. Sadly, he died in 2006.

Richard Rodgers
More prolific than George Gershwin (who died at 38), more popular than Stephen Sondheim and esteemed among musicians of all genres. Collectively, his catalogue of songs reads like a treasury of classics from American musical theater's golden age.

Bob Sedergreen
Pianist Bob Sedergreen is one of the greatest performers of the blues this country has produced. He is blessed too, with a wonderful style of musical humour.
